PURPOSE
We are organizing a Social Media Blitz to raise awareness about Cathy Talmadge,
who is in renal failure and needs a kidney to live. By sharing Cathy’s story, we
hope to paint a true picture of Cathy, a community-minded mother, wife,
philanthropist, gardener, environmentalist and all-around amazing person who
deserves to life a long and healthy life.
BACKGROUND
A longtime Westport resident, Cathy was put on kidney donation lists across the
country, but was told it could take years before a kidney would become available.
There are currently more than 100,000 Americans waiting for a kidney transplant,
and the list is about seven years long at last count. She was also informed that
dialysis could wreak havoc on her body, and that she could become very sick,
potentially incapable of having a future transplant. Family members who were
tested were not cleared due to various medical issues, so a group of friends
decided to get the word out with a no-holds-barred campaign for an angel donor.
The clock is ticking...
THE GOAL
It’s on us to find #AKidneyforCathy. Cathy has spent her whole life doing good
things for others, and we know that a kind and generous soul is out there who is
going to step up to save Cathy’s life!
